TMHLRBQ_ARCHIVE_C61_CHAPTER 61. THE KNIGHT'S REVELATION

61. The Knight’s Revelation

“…I’m sorry, Sir Commander, Sir Vice-Commander. May I have a moment of your time?”

It was after Arthur had returned from his meeting with Lord Pryde and finished the day's remaining drills. He approached me and Clark with a sense of urgency. It seemed likely that his request was related to what had transpired with Lord Pryde. We exchanged nods and urged him to continue, but Arthur hesitated, visibly uncomfortable.

He suggested that the matter be discussed somewhere more private. Concerned, I tried to calm my racing thoughts and led Arthur, along with Clark, to my office, the Commander's chamber.

Arthur began by insisting that everything he was about to share be kept confidential. He explained that after meeting with Lord Pryde, he had been teleported by Lord Steil to assist with a request from Lord Pryde. This secrecy was understandable, given that Steil’s teleportation was a closely guarded ability within the Order.

Yet, there was something in Arthur's initial demeanor that hinted at more than just this.

Arthur took a deep breath, avoiding our eyes momentarily before meeting our gazes squarely and speaking clearly.

“Father, Clark… My special ability is not just to rejuvenate crops; it is to heal all ailments.”

The revelation left me momentarily speechless.

I stood there, mouth agape, unable to form a coherent response.

“What—what do you mean, Arthur? Are you saying your power is to heal wounds?” Clark’s voice, usually so steady, wavered with disbelief. The notion of a power that could heal disease was something I had only heard of in legends, and never expected to encounter firsthand.

Arthur nodded firmly. “Yes, it’s a healing power. My ability extends beyond just plants.”

Clark was rendered silent by the gravity of the revelation.

My mind raced to keep up with this staggering revelation. As a Knight Commander, I had Pryded myself on adaptability and flexibility in various situations, but Arthur's words were far beyond my expectations.

I recalled the day Arthur had first demonstrated his power as a child. My wife had been trying to cultivate a crop that had withered due to her mistakes. We had given up hope, but when I returned home to help clean up, Arthur's touch had revived the crops miraculously.

For years, we had believed Arthur's power was limited to nurturing plants. It was a gift we took Pryde in, even if it seemed unsuitable for a knight. But now, to learn that his ability extended to healing all living things was astounding.

Reflecting on the past, I wondered if Arthur had ever fallen ill. During my time away as a new recruit, I was occasionally sick, but Arthur and my wife seemed to stay healthy. I had always worried about them, particularly my wife, who might have hidden her struggles from me.

Clark, seeming to share my thoughts, muttered, “Come to think of it, there were no cases of illness among new recruits during Arthur’s first year. That’s unusual.”

Arthur’s response was nonchalant. “I’ve never had a cold or illness.”

Clark’s realization that Arthur’s power might be the reason for the absence of illness among the new recruits left us both in awe.

If Arthur could indeed heal illness, it was a talent of monumental significance. Typically, special abilities require physical contact to work on others. Arthur might have unknowingly been healing the recruits during training.

What a formidable gift this was.

Clark, sweating despite his composed demeanor, seemed to agree. While there were already healers within the Order for injuries, a power that could address illness was far more precious.

The realization was overwhelming. To think that such an extraordinary talent had been hidden for so long, only to be revealed now, was both astonishing and humbling. Arthur’s special ability could potentially revolutionize the way we address health issues within the Order and beyond.

“Arthur,” I said, “how did you discover this power?”

“Lord Pryde… foresaw it,” Arthur replied.

Lord Pryde again! I found myself hitting my head against the wall in disbelief. How many times must that man astonish us?

It was clear that neither Clark nor I would have recognized the true extent of Arthur’s power without Lord Pryde’s insight. This remarkable ability might have remained hidden otherwise.

“…What a revelation,” I murmured.

Arthur, puzzled by my reaction, questioned what was wrong.

“It’s not a problem,” I reassured him, taking his head gently in my hands. “This ability is extraordinary, and it could be a great asset to the Knights. You should be proud of it.”

Arthur gave a small, appreciative nod.

“For now, let’s keep this ability hidden,” Clark suggested. Arthur agreed. The scope of his power was too immense to reveal prematurely.

Arthur prepared to leave, bowing and turning to exit. As he was about to close the door, he hesitated and peeked back.

“If you or Clark ever need it, I’ll use it,” he said quickly before closing the door.

The sound of the closing door echoed in the room.

“Clark,” I sighed deeply, addressing my friend.

“Yes, my friend. I feel like drinking heavily tonight,” Clark replied.

We understood each other’s sentiments and began preparing to head to our usual tavern.

I wondered how many more times Arthur and Lord Pryde would astonish and delight us.

As we made our way to the tavern, Clark quietly said, “I’m starting to want children of my own.”

I reminded him that he was already busy caring for his younger sister and patted his shoulder firmly. I took his words as the highest compliment.

Eun: I still have a bit of time to spare so here's an update~! Enjoy.
